NEW Amsterdam United defied a spirited Cougars Football Club (FC) to win 1-0 at the end of regulation time as play continued in the Berbice Football Association (BFA) leg of GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Intra Association Under-17 match at Burnham Park last Sunday.
The first match in the BFA leg of GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Intra Association Under-17 tourney got off to a compelling start. In the 69th minute, Odinga Smith scored from the edge of the box, when the ball cannoned into the back of the net as Cougars goalkeeper Trivette Edwards was caught off-guard.
The NA United lads proved that they will be a serious force to be reckoned with. The game scenario for both teams was filled with energy.
NA United looked the more determined team. They created many plays. Cougars FC played the ball nicely in the first half but failed to find the back of the net.
