ALMOST two weeks after 18-year-old Keisha Anthony was killed in a motorcycle accident along the Supply Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), her 20-year-old boyfriend has been charged with causing her death by dangerous driving.
Kenroy London of Kaneville, EBD, appeared before City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore and was released on $250,000 after denying the charge. The offence was allegedly committed on May 24, 2017 on the Supply Public Road, EBD when London rode motorcycle, CH 9730 in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death Anthony.
Police Prosecutor, Simone Payne objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant was not the holder of a valid driver’s licence at the time of the accident nor was he wearing a helmet. However, Magistrate Azore granted bail in the sum of $250,000 and adjourned the matter to June 23, 2017.
According to reports, on the day in question at about 17:30 hrs, the motorcyclist was proceeding south along the East Bank Public Road when he reportedly lost control of the bike and collided with a pedestrian. As a result of the impact, Anthony who was the pillion rider of the motorcycle, was flung some distance away. Both parties were not wearing helmets.
The 18-year-old was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and died while receiving treatment.
