We have been following all the letters that were written by persons about NIS and the Melanie Office. Persons are totally fed up with what is going on, more so the staff. We at the Melanie office cannot take it anymore; it is time we speak out and let the society and those in power know what is going on. For too long now the Manager at that Office is getting away with lots of things and unnecessary victimization of staff. Also, we know that when this letter is published a lot of persons, including insured persons, employers, pensioners and self-employed persons who are harassed daily and the assistant Manager(Inspector Selman) who is currently on leave will come forward. Many reports have been made to management,(and) all they do is call her (the manager) and no sanctioning is done. Then they transfer staff to other locations just because of her. The office has lost a lot of experienced and qualified staff because of the manager. Management seems to be condoning this while the staff is working out of fear.

At the Office we have three inspectors; two came recently,the other one gets along with the manager and does not go in the field to do any work. The inspector spends almost the entire day in the manager’s office typing memos for her. Just recently the other inspector Thomas was victimised and she left because management did nothing to help her; she asked to be transferred.

Only last week because of their incompetence and laziness, court cases were thrown out and the manager blamed us (staff) who do not go to court. We cannot operate freely; the manager has us like a slave camp, we are totally demotivated. The authorities must now investigate and they will find out.
