AFTER a short stint on the United States cycling circuit, Raynauth `Obeahman’ Jeffrey stamped his authority on the local circuit, winning the feature event of the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycle Club’s/Baker Memorial Cycle Classic that was staged in Linden on Sunday.
Competing in the feature 80-mile road race, Jeffrey covered the distance in a time of two hours 25 minutes 31 seconds. This was Jeffrey’s second victory in the six-year-old event.
Team Alanis’ Alonzo Ambrose finished second while Jeffrey’s fellow Team Coco’s member, the in-form Jamal John had to settle for third.
The other top three places were filled by Team United’s Andrew Hicks, Team Coco’s Hamza Eastman and Team Evolution’s Paul DeNobrega respectively.
Team United’s Briton John won the junior category ahead of Jason Cameron and Adealie Hodge in that order.
Hazina Barrett was the first female to cross the finish line. Abigale Jeffrey was second and last year’s winner Byonka Barker placed third.
Veteran cyclist Junior Niles (Team Coco’s) continued his dominance of the veterans’ Under-50 category by returning a time of two hours 37 minutes 46 seconds to finish ahead of Leer Nunes and Warren McKay respectively.
In the Over-50 veterans category, Andrew Spencer was first to cross the finish line. Second was Garfield Lorimer.
The presentation of prizes to the respective winners was done by members of the Baker family of Linden.
