Eight local schools for Kiddy Cricket interval display

EIGHT primary schools will participate in the Kiddy Cricket interval display this year during the second match in the Guyana leg of the Pakistan tour of the West Indies tomorrow.

The eight schools are Leonora Primary, Enterprise Primary, North Georgetown Primary, St Pius Primary, Redeemer Primary, Blairmont Primary, Greenwick Park Primary and New Diamond/Grove Primary.
The aspiring cricketers will entertain the crowds during the interval break of the match with their skills in batting, bowling and fielding
During the stint of International cricket here in June 2016, when the West Indies hosted South Africa, WICB project development officer KJ Singh said he was pleased with the turnout and enthusiasm of the children.
“The children who participated in the first Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket display here in Guyana were fantastic and showed great discipline and talent. They were very enthusiastic and enjoyed their time on the field,” Singh said.
“The WICB has definitely seen great success from the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Programme which has been going on for over 20 years. Players such as Britney Cooper, Shaquana Quintyne, Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite, Shamar Springer, Ryan John and Gidron Pope have come through the programme and were members of the West Indies teams who won the three international titles last year.”
Singh added: “We hope the exposure and experiences these young Scotiabank Kiddy cricketers take away from the interval display at the international series inspire them to work hard and achieve great cricketing success, just as those before them.”
