Prompt fire-fighters avert fire in Linden

MINISTER within the Ministry of Communities, Valarie Adams-Patterson, has lauded the Linden firemen on duty Saturday night for responding promptly to a fire that erupted in the Phase 3 Amelia’s Ward Home of her son, Lindey Sharpe.

The fire which started around 8pm, Patterson told the Guyana Chronicle, was electrical in nature. It started in the second bedroom of one of the two apartments on the lower flat, but the fire-fighters’ quick response to the call, caused the blaze to be restricted..
“They were very prompt, they came with two fire trucks, the ambulance and electricity personnel. They were very prompt,” Ms. Patterson said.

At the time of the blaze, the government minister who is a resident of Linden, said she was in the upper storey of the house, while the tenant of the other apartment was also home. No one was hurt and the damage was not deemed significant. The minister wanted to make it clear that the property is not occupied by her as was reported by an online news outlet.
