CARIBBEAN Champion Kristian Jeffrey and his father Kevin have confirmed their participation in the first National Race of Champions, this weekend at the South Dakota Circuit.
Both cars, which compete under the Top Power Racing banner, are being prepped and fine-tuned, according to the senior Jeffrey, ahead of Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race.
Kristian, who spoke to Chronicle Sport before departing to compete at a U,S, Karting event, contended that he is looking for all the practice possible ahead of his debut with the Radical works team.
“I’ll be trying to get in as much work as I can in any car/kart ahead of the first race weekend in England. I leave mid-April to try and get acclimatised with the surroundings and to work with my mechanics,” he told Chronicle Sport earlier.
Meanwhile, Kevin has confirmed both his readiness and his son’s for the event, saying that the mechanics are working overtime on the machines.
Speaking on reigniting the battle between himself and his son, Kevin said, “It’s something that always is a race day thing. He’s fast and I’m fast, so it’s about seeing who comes out ahead on race day.”
“He knows that I won’t go easy on him and vice versa, because when we are on the track, we are competitors,” Jeffrey added
While Kristian’s Mitsubishi Evolution VIII has been atop the Caribbean for two years successively, Kevin is no stranger in his Evolution VII to the winners’ circle and it will be battle royal come April 2.
The event’s sponsors include Ansa McAl, through the STAG Beer brand, ExxonMobil, Fly Jamaica, Seaboard Marine, Tony’s Auto Spares, Japarts, Choke Gas Station, CARICOM Auto Sales, E Networks, S. Jagmohan Hardware supplies, Truck Masters and Jialing.
