THE Jamaican man who is the alleged mastermind behind the plot to rob and execute a Corentyne businessman has been placed on $30,000 station bail pending further investigations into the matter.
He was ordered to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters for further questioning. The businessman, who owns and operates a clothing and footwear store in Rose Hall Town, was also asked by police to report to CID headquarters in Eve Leary to assist with investigations.
Meanwhile, the man who was reportedly paid to carry out the hit, Cordel Fraser, 24, was further detained and will face charges for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a stolen motorcycle and falsifying a licence plate on the motorcycle.
Fraser was arrested on March 9 after an alert detective noticed him acting suspiciously and trailed him to Anamayah Street in Hampshire, Corentyne, where he was arrested after he had disposed of a .32 revolver with four matching rounds in a nearby trench. During interrogation, he told investigators he had been hired by a Jamaican to rob and execute the businessman, who reportedly owed the Jamaican some money.
