A RESIDENT of Charlestown, Georgetown was sentenced to two years and eleven months imprisonment on Wednesday and fined $159,000 after she was found guilty of the possession of narcotics by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
Tiffany Sultan, 23, was accused of having in her possession106 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking, on January 9, 2017 at Broad Street, Charlestown.
According to the facts, on the day in question at Sultan’s residence, she was approached by police ranks and gave them permission to conduct a search on her premises. She also admitted at the time, she was the only occupant of the house.
Following the search she was asked about the possible existence of illegal items in the home. She eventually admitted to marijuana being hidden in the house and she later pointed it out to the police ranks.
During the trial, by way of a caution statement, Sultan admitted that she was involved in the sale of marijuana, for a man she only knew as “Ants man.”
In her ruling Magistrate McLennan stated that she was satisfied that the evidence provided to the court by the Police prosecutor proved all essential facts that Sultan was guilty of the offence.
