Bright up Region 5 winners to be known Tuesday

The MASHRAMANI Committee of Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice) will judge its Bright Up Region 5 competition which will provide prizes to owners of the best decorated buildings and their environs in the Region as part of Mash Celebrations this year.

Coordinator of the Public Relations and Marketing Sub-Committee Sandie Ross said that registration for participation in the Competition closed on February 22nd.
The competitors will be judged on February 28th and the winners announced shortly after.
Ross said that there had been a lot of interest by Mash celebrants in the competition and one of the beneficial results would undoubtedly be colorful and gaily decorated buildings within the Region which stretches east from the right bank of the Mahaica River to Ithaca village on the left bank of the Berbice River.

There were four categories of competitors for Bright Up Region 5. Firstly schools inclusive of the Technical Institute at Mahaicony, secondly the Offices and Compounds of Neighborhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) thirdly Government Offices and compounds and fourthly Non Government Offices and compounds – a category which caters for competitors from the commercial sector, cooperatives, religious and cultural entities and private residences and yards.

.The contestants were to be judged in relation to the visual impact of their decorations; the creativity displayed, their creative use of the national colors and the relevance of the decorations to the theme of Mash celebrations for 2017: “Celebrating with dignity liberty and greater unity.”
Meanwhile Coordinator of the overall Mash Committee for the Region Carol Smith-Joseph said that the arrangements for the two other major Mashramani observances in Region 5 had proceeding as planned.

A massive Mash Day Jump up at Rosignol Stelling Road Rosignol West Bank Berbice was part of the program of celebrations .
