AFTER being on remand for over a month, Caesar Gonsalves, 28, was released on $350,000 bail by Magistrate Leron Daly on Tuesday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

In January, police had raided the man’s Thorn Drive Tucville, East La Penitence apartment and found .45 rifle and .9mm ammunition. He was charged, placed before the court and remanded to prison for the illegal possession of the items by Chief Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan.

However, when the case was called on Tuesday, Defence Lawyer, Patrince Henry applied for bail on the grounds that the prosecution was not in possession of the file, since it is yet to be completed. The Prosecution, led by Kevin London, did not oppose the bail application; as such bail was granted and the matter will be called again on March 13, 2017.

According to reports on January 12, at approximately 14:00h police acting on information went to Gonsalves’ home and conducted a search where the gun and ammunition were found in addition to several ecstasy tablets.

Caesar had told the court that he is the manager of Cuyuni Mining Company.
