A PACKED night of action is anticipated this evening for the street football fans of Pouderoyen when the Colors/Guinness Greatest of the Streets West Demerara leg concludes. In a tense opening affair, the balanced and well-rounded unit ESPN will go head-to-head with the hard-hitting Hustlers for the first spot in the final.
The second encounter will see the brute force of the Showstoppers come face to face with the Money Team in an all-out battle royal for the second spot.
In addition to those games, there will be three exhibition games. In the first GPL will take on their utility counterparts GWI, followed by Broad Street versus Harmony Ballers and Admiral United against the Promoters.
In the quarterfinal action, ESPN advanced via the penalty route 2-0 over Agricola while Hustlers had a 3-2 penalty result over their Goal-Getters counterparts as Deon Charter’s 14th minute shot was cancelled out by Goal-Getters Rolex Smith (28th).
Games three and four were also decided on penalties as Showstoppers prevailed 2-1 over Brothers United while the Money Team won 2-1 against Tajoe’s Admiral United
In the earlier group stages, West Side Ballers gained a walkover from De Kinderen while Patentia gained the same result against Golden Warriors. Semi-Finalists ESPN won against Goal-Getters 2-1 through sudden-death penalties.
Meanwhile, Harmony Ballers were beaten 3-2 on penalties by Young Ballers after a one-goal stalemate. Simeon Peters’ opening goal for Young Ballers was cancelled in the 11th minute when Kevin Richards found the back of the net.
Game five ended in favour of eventual semi-finalists Money Team as they registered a 1-0 win over Good Intent through Amoniki Buntin while Hustlers squeezed past Agricola Champion Boys 3-2 on sudden-death penalty kicks.
Brothers United through Leon Yaw also produced a 1-0 win over Tajoe’s Admiral United while Dexroy Adams (8th) and Hubert Pedro (12th) helped Showstoppers overcome Jettty.
