FORTY young Guyanese women on Thursday participated in a Come Alive Network Incorporated (CANI) workshop aimed at enhancing the role women play in development. The event themed “Influencing Change: Women Contributing to development” was facilitated by Trinidadian activist, Teocah Ariel Dove, who specialises in Gender and Youth Development.
A release from CANI said the session focused on ways in which young Guyanese, particularly women can tap into resources around them to be effective and active agents of change and progress. “Much focus was given to the need for women to constantly engage in self-evaluation as a means of starting the process of creating and maintaining self-value,” the statement said.
The workshop which ran for three hours was facilitated at the St. Joseph’s High School auditorium and according to Managing Director, Kadeem Gordon, it “comes at a time when young Guyanese women need to better understand and appreciate their worth as gifted individuals and not as mere consequences of their circumstances.”
Meanwhile, CANI through its continued commitment to youth development across the country invites interested sponsors to make contact with its representatives to aid in the furtherance of development here.
