– four apprehended, one charged and remanded

ONE person has been charged and three others are in custody for being in possession of three unlicensed shotguns and several rounds of live cartridges over the past week, a statement from the Guyana Police Force said on Friday. According to the statement, a resident of Aishalton Village, South Rupununi, Orvin Roberts, was found in possession of an unlicensed single- barrelled shotgun and one live cartridge on January 14. The 45-year- old man was charged and remanded to prison until March 7.
Meanwhile, on January 19 around 13:30hrs, a 40-year- old miner of Craig, East Bank Demerara ,was arrested at 23 Miles Issano, for being in possession of an unlicensed single- barreled shotgun at his shop located at Issano.
Similarly, at about 14:00hrs on January 19 at Toka Village, North Rupununi, a 38- year- old resident of the village and his 72- year- old father-in-law were arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed single- barrelled shotgun, two live cartridges and eight spent cartridges (empty casings). They are currently being processed for court.
