GUYANESE-OWNED Two Brothers Rice Milling Complex Inc. has announced plans to expand its operations into Jamaica in 2026, as the company also moves to support hurricane relief efforts in the island state.
Chief Executive Officer, Javed Ali, said the proposed expansion will operate under the name Two Ali Brothers Corporation Limited and is intended to deepen the company’s engagement within the Jamaican market while contributing to economic activity through employment and partnerships.
The announcement comes as the Vergenoegen, West Coast Demerara–based company donated more than 20,000 kilograms of rice to assist Jamaican communities affected by Hurricane Melissa. The storm caused widespread damage, leaving many families facing food shortages and ongoing recovery challenges.
“We at Two Brothers Rice Milling Complex are deeply moved by the strength and resilience of the Jamaican people in the wake of Hurricane Melissa,” Ali said. “It is our honour to contribute to the relief efforts and to stand in solidarity with communities as they rebuild their lives.”
According to the company, the rice was distributed to charitable organisations and individuals across several affected parishes. Distribution was facilitated through Taujul Imports, following an initiative led by Slingerz Entertainment—also headed by Ali—and coordinated in Jamaica by Jacqueline James and Zarie Ricketts.
Ali acknowledged the support of Jamaica’s Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Floyd Green; General Secretary of the People’s National Party, Dr Dayton Campbell; as well as Taujul Imports and Jason Ricketts. He also recognised the efforts of local charities and volunteers involved in delivering assistance to families in need.
Two Brothers Rice Milling Complex said the donation reflects its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and regional co-operation, particularly during times of crisis. The company has increasingly positioned itself as part of a wider Caribbean network of agricultural and commercial interests.
Beyond agriculture, Ali maintains business interests in the entertainment and sports sectors through the Slingerz brand. Slingerz Entertainment and Slingerz Records, a family-owned enterprise, have operated for more than two decades and are known for promoting Jamaican artistes and strengthening cultural ties between Guyana and Jamaica. The brand has also expanded into sports, with Slingerz Football Club and Slingerz Racing Stables among the leading entities in their respective fields in Guyana. The football club currently includes several Jamaican players on its roster.
Company officials said the planned expansion into Jamaica and the recent humanitarian donation underscore a broader strategy focused on regional engagement, community support and sustainable development across multiple sectors.
