Two persons are in police custody as investigators hunt for a third in connection with the murder of a 37-year-old Uitvlugt Estate worker which occurred on Monday night. Police have so far arrested a porknocker at Matthew’s Ridge, North West District, Region One on Tuesday. The stepson of the deceased has also been arrested.
Dead is Kawall Shivnauth called “Rupesh” of Wine Bush Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD).
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital after being discovered at an Anna Catherina, WCD rum shop with suspected stab wounds about his body.
Reports revealed that the sugar worker had an altercation with three persons, including his teenaged stepson,as he was about to exit the shop.
He was reportedly lashed behind his head while another man pounced on him and stabbed him repeatedly.
Residents raised an alarm and the police were alerted. Shivnauth sustained injuries to his lower abdomen. Shivnauth celebrated his birthday Sunday last and according to reports, an old argument he had with his stepson resulted in the fight that led to his demise.
