THE Sunday School Department of the Freedom Life Ministries Church on Saturday held its annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Merriman Mall Fun Park, opposite Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church on North Road, Georgetown.The event brought together hundreds of children, their parents and guardians for an afternoon of fun under the guidance and supervision of Sunday school teachers headed by First Lady of Freedom Life Ministries, Mrs. Delight Ogle-Uwagboe, wife of Prophet Joel Uwagboe, who heads the Church.

Besides having loads of food, drink and other ‘goodies’ at their disposal, the kids had a whale of a time playing fun outdoor games, including old folk games, enjoying swings and slides, and jumping on the trampoline. They also participated in outdoor quizzes based on the Holy Bible. And at the end of the day, everyone received a gift from Santa Claus to take home with them to remind them of the swell time they had this Christmas at the Mall.

Public Relations Officer of the church, Ms. Melanie Beate, said the church usually holds its Christmas Party at its Princes and Lyng streets premises, but with the Sunday School Department growing as quickly as it is, the church had to find an alternative location at which to host the event.

“And so we thought that this year we would bring them outdoors to enjoy the ambience and splendour of the newly refurbished Merriman Mall in Georgetown, where they can have fun in a different setting,” Beate said.

Apart from the main branch at Princes and Lyng streets, Freedom Life Ministries has four other branches in Berbice. One is in New Amsterdam; there is one each at Number 9 and Number 35 Villages on the Corentyne; and the other is at Belladrum, West Coast Berbice. There is also one at Linden, in Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice).
