THE Bamia Nursery and Primary School on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway is now happy to be able to do its own desktop publishing, thanks to the timely intervention of Banks DIH Limited.

According to Headmistress, Ms. Denise Piggott, up until recently, the school had to do whatever printing it needed done all the way in Linden, some 15 miles away, because there was no electricity in the village where it is located.

But now that Bamia has gotten power, the school was prompted to seek Banks’ assistance with the acquisition of a computer and printer. And, to the company’s credit, she said, it responded positively.

“The computer system will help us tremendously and reduce cost, because we will no longer have to travel all the way to Mackenzie to have our paperwork done,” Ms Pigott said. “We are very grateful to Banks DIH Limited for their support.”

According to company Communications Manager, Mr Troy Peters, Banks responded almost immediately to the request after hearing about the school’s many challenges. “This presentation forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSRP) as we continue to foster closer relationships in the communities in which we operate,” Peters said.

Bamia School has a population of 48 pupils and five teachers.
