POLICE investigators have released a suspect in the murder of 24-year-old Roland “Vishal” Jodmie, whose body was found in an isolated area at the back of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, with gunshot wounds last Tuesday.
Police Divisional Commander Leslie James on Saturday confirmed to the Guyana Chronicle that they on Friday released the 21-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the murder. The police are awaiting the results of Jodmie’s post-mortem which was also conducted on Friday.
Investigators are now seeking new leads in the taxi driver’s murder.
On Tuesday, October 4, around 19:00hrs, Jodmie was found in his car with two gunshot wounds in an area known as “the Blacka,” located at Block Eight, Phase Two Housing Scheme in Tuschen.
Reports are that the taxi driver was hired by two men to take them to the back of the scheme and while there, he was robbed of his day’s earnings and then shot.
Jodmie was rushed to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, West Coast Demerara, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
