ends in draw, win for Upper Corentyne

MIDDLE-order batsman, Devon Clements,followed up his first innings unbeaten 143, with another important innings of 77 which included 10 fours and three sixes, as the sixth round Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Jaguars Franchise League three-day match between Lower Corentyne and West Demerara ended in a tame draw at the Tuschen Community Centre ground, yesterday.Clements innings helped tournament leaders Lower Corentyne to post a lead of 217. Royston Crandon and Jonathan Foo supported with 33 and 30 respectively.
West Demerara,requiring 218 for victory in a minimum of 46 overs,were left stranded on 163/5 off 37.3 overs when the match was called off,with 10 minutes remaining in the day’s play. Raymon Reifer and Tagenarine Chanderpaul both struck 52. Bowling for Lower Corentyne, Royston Crandon took 5/60.

At Everest: Upper Corentyne defeated East Bank Demerara by 209 runs after East Bank Demerara were dismissed for 202 chasing 412 for victory. Steven Jacobs was the top scorer with 61 while Ershaad Ali 33, Mark Rhobe 29 and Stephan Harris 25 not out were the other main contributors. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, Shawn Perreira bagged 6/55 while Eon Hooper had 3/74.
At Cumberland: West Berbice,resuming on 112/2,rallied to score 361 chasing 439 for victory. Avishwar Sewkarran top scored with 82 and Steffon Adams made 81.Kevin Jawahir 60, Leon Andrews 33 and Brentnol Woolford 22,were the other batsmen to offer resistance. Bowling for Georgetown, Christopher Barnwell picked up 3/51 while there were 2 wickets each for Sunil Singh, Devon Lord and Gajanan Suknanan.
At Imam Bacchus ground , Essequibo: East Coast Demerara,resuming on their overnight score of 2/1, piled up a huge total of 468/3 with Chandrapaul Hemraj smashing an unbeaten 250 while teenager Bhaskar Yadram registered his second century of the match to follow up his first innings 118 with 121 in the second innings.
Hemraj smashed 19 fours and 17 towering sixes during his classy innings while Yadram hit 14 fours and 2 sixes. Kamesh Yadram was the other not out batsman with 56. Bowling for Essequibo, Kemo Paul had 2/90.
