OSWALD Rambarran, 42, called “Dungs” of Middle Road, La Penitence, who was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle around 21:30hrs on Sunday, shortly after he was called to the area to deliver food by a resident, had several brushes with the law.Residents said the man’s death may have been the result of a hit since he had several misunderstandings with persons in the area. He was attached to the 007 Taxi Service.

Rambarran died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Police sources said that Rambarran has had several brushes with the law, dating as far back as June 2008, when he was shot by the lawmen during a high speed chase.
Police said at the time that the man and an accomplice were seen forcing another man into a car trunk on High Street in the city. The accomplice escaped but Rambarran led the police on a high speed chase which ended at Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara.

Rambarran was hospitalised with gunshot wounds near his armpit but escaped from the GPHC. He was later recaptured and the rank who was guarding him was placed under close arrest.
