SEVERAL persons were injured on Saturday evening when a passenger minibus driven by policeman Timothy Andrews crashed into a utility pole at Regent and Albert Streets, Georgetown.

Reports are that Andrews, who worked the Kitty/Campbellville route part-time, had challenged another minibus driver to a race, and when that driver told him off, Andrews sped off and, in the process, struck down a motorcyclist.
Once that happened, Andrews seemingly lost control of the vehicle, which swerved several times on the road before crashing.

The motorcyclist and seven persons who were removed from the mangled bus, including the driver, were rushed to the hospital by public-spirited persons. Up to press time, police have said, there were no fatalities.
