The owner of Permaul’s Snackette was again robbed on Sunday as he was about to make a deposit at the Rose Hall branch of Republic Bank.According to sources the businessman, Ramlingan Mangali who wholesales beverages was about to deposit $2 million at around 10:30hrs when an armed man approached him as he exited his vehicle and demanded the bag with the money. According to an eyewitness Mangali complied handing over the bag with money and the lone bandit ran off making good his escape on foot before he was picked up in the vicinity of a lemonade factory by a motorcyclist. The man was unmasked.
The businessman who operates his business at Albion Village on the Corentyne has been the target of frequent robberies with the last being in 2014 when he was robbed in similar fashion of $10 million, on that occasion an inside job was suspected with employees questioned. Mangali recently rehabilitated his snackette and has not yet re-opened the doors to the public but operates his wholesale business from his bond. Police have launched an investigation.
