West Indies U-15 tour of the UK starts today

…three Guyanese players included

The West Indies Under-15 tour to the United Kingdom (UK) will start today, with the youngsters playing Hertfordshire at the Woollams Cricket Ground.The tour will run for 13 days, and includes six 50 overs-a-side matches.
“The tour has once again provided an opportunity for this age-group to be exposed and gain notable experience, following participation in regional competition. We are pleased to be able to partner with England’s Barmy Army Colts to make this happen,” says Manager, Cricket Operations, Roland Holder.
Meanwhile, David Palmer of the Barmy Army Colts noted, “the West Indies boys showed immense talent last year, and this is helping to enrich colts cricket in the UK. We hope that we can build on the international dimensions to this tour, and that it will grow in the coming years as we work in partnership with the WICB.
Following their opening match, the Under-15 team will play against South West England at the Banbury Club on August 15; Hampshire at the Aeges Bowl on August 16; and the London Schools EPP at the Shenley Cricket Centre on August 18.
August 19 will see them take on England’s Barmy Army Colts at the Stanmore Cricket Club, before wrapping up their match schedule on August 20 against the London and East Region at the Merchant Taylors School.
Further, three Guyanese are a part of the 14-member squad selected by the selection panel of the West Indies Cricket Board.
The full squad reads: Ashmead Nedd (Guyana), Bodgenarine Sharma (Leeward Islands), Geordae Seymour (Jamaica), Jahseon Alexander (Windward Islands), Jayden Seales (Trinidad and Tobago), Kimani Mellius (Windward Islands), Kirk McKenzie (Jamaica), Naeem Young (Barbados), Nico Reifer (Barbados), Qumar Torrington (Guyana), Sachin Singh (Guyana), Sameer Ali (Trinidad and Tobago), Tahj Tavernier (Windward Islands) and Zawandi White (Leeward Islands).
Former West Indies opener Robert Samuels is the head coach. He will be assisted by former West Indies bowler Corey Collymore. Courtney Walsh is team manager.
