Guyanese Danny Singh to coach SCA Under-19s

TORONTO, Canada – Former Canadian captain Danny Singh has been appointed coach of the Scarborough Cricket Association (SCA) Under-19 team, set to oppose their counterparts from Ottawa Valley Cricket Council in a feature 40-over match on Sunday at the Ashtonbee ground, Scarborough here.Singh, who migrated to Canada from Guyana several years ago, brings a wealth of experience to the job, having represented Canada in three World Cup tournaments and also have the distinction of leading the team for a number of years. His assistant is Yunus Motara.
Two other Guyanese also feature in the management staff with SCA treasurer Vish Jadunauth serving as manager and grounds coordinator Deo Samaroo assistant manager.
SCA president Shiv Persaud has expressed confidence in the squad selected following a specially arranged practice match, played on Tuesday and is also thanking the several sponsors who have contributed to make the game possible.
The sponsors include Centennial College Alumni Association – Champion Trophy and Most Valuable Player (MVP); Habib Canadian Bank – Runners-up Trophy and MVP; Mazz Mark Auto and Paul Peter Insurit Group – trophies for the best two batsmen in the game and Pan Express Travel and Shaeen and Tikka Kabab – the best two bowlers.
The SCA 14-man squad reads: Jordan Pirali – Superstars Sports Club, Faheem Motara – SCA Colts, Chetram Devindra Nauth – Superstars Sports Club, Aditya Pandya – SCA Colts, Fardin Anwar – Bangla Warriors, Jermylee Barnett – Superstars Sports Club, Prakhar Sharma – TCA, Shehara Dematagoda – SCA Colts, Towfeeq Ahmed – Superstars Sports Club,, Rudra Patel – SCA Colts, Trushil Patel – Superstars Sports Club, Aharan Nithiyapalan – SCA Colts, Thuvaragan Pathmeswaran – SCA Colts, Lincoln Hotiram – SCA Colts.
