PREMCHAND Kallicharran, called “Boysie”, 29, of Grant 1780 Crabwood Creek; Cordel Small, aka “Mad Dog”, 34, of Dukestown, Corriverton; and Delroy Parks, aka “Sickly”, 31, of Cromarty Farm, all East Berbice/Corentyne communities in Region Six, appeared before Whim Magistrate Charlyn Artiga, arraigned on the charge of murder committed on Chinese restaurateur Xiu Di Yang at Number 57 Village, Corentyne on February 7 last.Unrepresented by counsel, the defendants were remanded to prison until September 28, while the case has been transferred before the Number 51 Village magistrate.

Investigations into this murder took a twist after one of the defendants confided in a prison inmate, and subsequently submitted a detailed statement to the police.

On February 7 last, the eve of the Chinese New Year, armed bandits invaded the Gin LI Lai Restaurant at Number 57 Village, Corentyne and fatally shot Xiu Di Yang, who had moments before

shared dinner with her family.
