Bandits nabbed after robbing taxi driver

TWO men were apprehended in ‘B’ Field Sophia Monday night after robbing a taxi driver of his valuables and car at 21:00hrs at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD).The driver was identified as Suresh Vilvhire of Good Hope, ECD.

Police said the victim alerted a passing police patrol, which gave chase and the vehicle and two of the suspects were apprehended. The suspects are being investigated for robbery under arms.

Investigations revealed that Suresh Vilvhire was hired by two suspects who instructed him to drive to a location where they were joined by two more suspects, one of whom placed a cutlass to his neck and relieved him of his valuables and the motor car and left him on the public road in the vicinity of Bachelor’s Adventure E.C.D. Investigations are in progress.

Meanwhile, Paul Primo of Farm Village, East Bank Essequibo on Monday was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without being the holder of a valid license at Arakaka, North West District. He appeared before His Worship Mr. Wilson at the Mathews Ridge Magistrate Court where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
