GUYANA National Rifle Association Fullbore captain Mahendra Persaud, along with colleagues from Trinidad and Tobago in the person of Norris Gomez and Michael Perez, is currently competing at the 147th Imperial Meeting under the auspices of the National Rifle Association (now the governing body of fullbore rifle and centre-fire pistol shooting in Great Britain) which was founded in 1859.The competition, which commenced on June 23 will end on July 23 with the much anticipated and prestigious, HM Queen’s Prize. This prestigious match is shot at 900 and 1000 yards on the Final Saturday of the Imperial Meeting. The top 100 competitors shoot for the most coveted prize in Target Rifle shooting.
The Caribbean shooters would normally compete in the TR Individuals which shoots off around the second weekend in July.
With the best shooters in the world converging on England for this high-status shoot, Persaud and company have always sought to keep their sights on those targets and have been putting in some sterling performances over the years against the best in the trade.
