AT THE Demerara Assizes yesterday, a jury began sitting in the case of Paul Abrams and Claude Craig, who are on trial for the offences of buggery, rape and indecent assault on a woman. Justice Jo-Ann Barlow is the presiding judge.The defendants pleaded not guilty and were represented by Senior Counsel Bernard DeSantos, who is defending Abrams while, Nigel Hughes is defending Craig.
The State employed three challenges during the selection of the jurors, while the defence did not challenge anyone.
On the resumption today the prosecution headed by Siand Dhurjon, along with Shonette Austin will address the jury.
The prosecution is alleging that the offences were committed on the 5th of December 2007.
