THE DRUNK POLICE constable, who killed a 10-year-old schoolboy Sunday last when his allegedly speeding car struck him off his bicycle at Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara, is expected to be charged today.Police source revealed that the Police constable, Raghunandan Bissessar, is expected to face the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, in addition to driving under the influence (DUI).
Davin Sealey, 10, of Sisters Village, was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. A post-mortem examination revealed that he died of multiple injuries.
The Policeman was found to have been over the drinking and driving limit. The vehicle only came to a stop after hitting a parked vehicle on the roadway and slamming into a utility pole, before turning turtle on the roadway.
The lad’s grandfather, Titus Thomas, 57, told the Guyana Chronicle that the family wants to see justice as Police Officers are expected to set an example in abiding by the rule of law.
One of the boy’s relatives said that when they showed up at the Wales police Station after the accident they were chased out into the rain by an officer there.
