Results of YBG National Schools’ basketball festival matches

THE Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National Schools basketball festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals continued on Friday with four matches played and on Saturday some seven .
In the first match of the day on Friday, Queen’s College girls defeated Charlestown Secondary 4-0. Miranna Ogle and Rianna Khan both scored 2 points. Bishops’ High School took on Plaisance Secondary in the second female match and defeated them 7-1. Ruth Sanmoogan had 6 points and 3 steals for Bishops’ High.
In the Under-14 contest, St. Rose’s High blew out St Stanislaus College by 19 points in a score of 25-6. Shamar Bristol had 9 points and 3 steals, while Jaheem Burton had 6 points, 16 rebounds with Jaden Graig finishing with 4 points and 11 rebounds for the Rose’s side. Omario Gomeshdin had all 6 points for Saints with 2 rebounds.
President’s College defeated Bishops’ High 22-16. Jeremy Fraser had 5 points, Akinyelle Derrell had 4 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Richard Semple had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals for the East Coast side. Timothy Richmond had 7 points, 4 steals and Duwon Younge contributed 4 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals for Bishops’ High.
On Saturday, President’s College Girls knocked off St. Stanislaus College in a blowout game. The game ended 12-2 with Demelza Nicholson taking the game by storm for PC, scoring 10 points with 5 rebounds and a phenomenal 8 steals. Cherub Auter had 2 points for Saints.
Marian Academy triumphed over St Rose’s High 19-7. Jada Mohan had 10 points, 5 steals and Georginna Vyphuis had 7 points and 5 rebounds for Marian. Aliyah Howard had 4 points and 2 rebounds for Rose’s.
In the Under16s St Stanislaus College eked out a one-point win over Queen’s College 16-15. Devon Nedd had 6 points and Nathan Hackett had 4 points and 7 rebounds for Saints. Brian Peters had 13 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort for Queen’s College.
Bishops’ High School had a strong showing against North Georgetown with Roydon Glasgow having a game-high 11 points, while adding 5 rebounds, and Shemar Greaves turned in 6 points. Jayroll Shepherd turned in 9 points and 4 steals for North.
In the Under-19s, St Stanislaus College edged St Joseph High 39-37. Travis Belgrave had a breakout performance with 28 points and 11 points, Akesi Cave had 2 points and 7 rebounds for Saints. Lemuel Grant had 9 points and Abevia Perry had 8 points and 5 rebounds for St.Joseph.
GTI held their resolve against Marian Academy. Nathan Saul had 17 points and Keon Mars contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds for GTI. Jonathan Mangra had 20 points and 5 rebounds for Marian in a losing effort, while Jordan Alphonso added 6 points and 10 rebounds.
St. Rose’s defeated President’s College 40-35. Shamar Huntley, Anfernee Jervis and Patrice Agrippa had 15,10 and 9 points respectively for Rose’s. Akeem Crandon had 10 points with 7 rebounds, while Jaleel Duke and Leon Harte both had 9 points with Duke adding 5 rebounds.
Another round of matches will be played this Friday.
