THE Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National Schools Festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals continued on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Some eight matches were played on the day with four female and four male match-ups.In the female matches, Plaisance Secondary defeated Charlestown Secondary with a score of 13-2. Daniela King had 5 points, 4 steals while Faith Primo had 4 points and 5 steals for the Plaisance side. Taejha Allen scored only 2 points for Charlestown.
In the second female match, Bishops’ High School fielded their first-ever female team to beat Tutorial High 16-2. Sileena Arjune had 6 points and Kesann Charles added 4 points for the BHS girls. Mary Grant was the only scorer for Tutorial High.
Marian Academy got the better of President’s College 12-8. Jada Mohan had 4 points, 5 steals while Georginna Vyphuis added 4 points and 7 rebounds for the Marian side. Glaudia Garraway had 6 points for President’s College.
St Rose’s High School trounced St Stanislaus College 16-2. Jada Amerally had 6 points, 2 steals and Ashley Khan had 6 points 3 steals for St Rose’s. Natesha Seymour was the lone scorer for Saints.
In the U-16 male matches, Marian Academy upstaged President’s College 23-15. Jordan Alphonso registered 14 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals and Josiah Daniels backed him up with 4 points for Marian.
Meanwhile, Akeem Grandon had 10 points and 4 rebounds for President’s College.
In the U-19 games Tutorial High upset St Stanislaus College 45-35. Manesseh Murray had 12 points, Denzik Logan 10 points and Tariq Nelson 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Tutorial side. Kadeem Bowen turned in 14 points for Saints.
President’s College (PC) thumped Bishops’ High 41-34. Jahleel Duke had 15 points for PC while Mikhail Broomes turned in 9 points for Bishops’.
In the final game of the night Government Technical Institute (GTI) took out Rose’s High in a complete blowout 46-25.
Nathan Saul had 14 points against his old side and Kerwin Griffith also had 10 points for GTI. Patrice Agrippa had 9 points and Anfernee Jervis had 6 points for Rose’s.
