After almost a year on the run, 21 – year – old Kenkassie Lynch, of Eccles, East Bank Demerara was charged with the murder of a Mocha resident.
Lynch, a Welder, appeared before City Magistrate, Fabayo Azore on Tuesday, where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that he shot and killed 23 – year – old Terrence Lanferman on June 01, 2015.

The incident occurred at Lanferman’s Nelson Street, Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara home. Police Prosecutor Corporal Bharrat Mangru told the court that the accused was captured on April 13 and reportedly confessed to the crime. He was remanded to prison until June 01.
According to the reports, Lynch also implicated a cousin of his, whose name has been given only as ‘Birdman.’ The Guyana Chronicle understands that the shooting was part of a feud between ‘Birdman’ and Lanferman but Lynch reportedly admitted that he alone carried out the shooting.
On the day in question, Lynch allegedly returned to Mocha and met his cousin after which he visited Nelson Street, located in the same community, to conduct surveillance on Lanferman’s house, which is located in the bottom flat of a two-story building.
He then returned to ‘Birdman’s’ house, and at around 19.00 hours, the cousin allegedly gave him a handgun. The two headed back to Nelson Street on a CG motorcycle.
While the cousin waited in a nearby street, Lynch allegedly went to Lanferman’s residence and knocked on the front door. Lanferman opened his front door to greet his visitor, only to be reportedly confronted by the gunman.
Corporal Mangru told the court that 18 witnesses are slated to testify at the Preliminary Inquiry (PI), which is set to commence on June 01.
