Dear Editor,

I RESPOND to a claim by Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo that the Office of the Prime Minister has rented the building in Port Mourant that was once Roopmahal Cinema. That building has upper floors for cinema and other entertainment purposes, with a lower or ground floor that has 15 offices.The Office of the Prime Minister in Region 6 occupies only one of those office spaces, and that at concessionary rental. Besides me, I have two persons working in the office; one is a clerk and the other is a cleaner. Both have been employed not on the basis of their origins, but on their competence on commitment to the welfare of the people.

Mr. Jagdeo must stop bashing the staff of the Office of the Prime Minister, since we have been doing work to bring relief to the farming and business population, whether in Black Bush Polder, Nos 52 to 74 Villages, or Crabwood Creek local government areas, which they highly appreciate.
