THE Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) yesterday completed another two-day training camp for schoolboys and junior boxers.The camp was held at the Andrew `Sixhead’ Lewis Gym in Albouystown and was conducted by Sebert Blake with assistance from Terrence Poole and Clifton Moore.
The camps are being held to sharpen the fitness and skill levels of young local pugilists in time for this month-end’s Caribbean Schoolboys and Junior tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall
. The tournament will be held on April 29 and 30 and is the first of its kind in the Region.
A release from the GABA stated that 21 boxers participated in the camp which ended yesterday afternoon with a sparring session. Also on the curriculum of the two-day session was endurance training.
Barbados, Jamaica and St Lucia have already confirmed participation at the novel tournament. Jamaica will send a team of three, while Team St Lucia comprises four. The final two-day camp is scheduled for this weekend.
