–Fruta Conquerors beat Alpha 3-1

WEST Demerara- based Slingerz United extended their points lead in the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) STAG Elite League after edging Pele 2-1 on Friday evening at the Leonora Synthetic facility, while Fruta Conquerors beat Alpha United by a 3-1 margin the same evening.The win for Slingerz propels them to 24 points from eight victories in as many matches, while Fruta Conquerors move to 19 points from eight matches also.
Devon Millington and Julian Wade scored for Slingerz in the 32nd and 58th minutes respectively, while Pele’s lone goal came off the boot of Jumane Somerset in the 86th minute.
In the other game played under floodlights, Jaball Greaves, Eon Alleyne and Hubert Pedro netted one goal each for Fruta Conquerors in the 31st, 66th and 85th minutes respectively, while Delon Lanferman scored Alpha United’s lone goal in the 90th minute.
Slingerz has so far scored 22 goals and conceded a mere three to record a plus-19 average.
Fruta Conquerors on the other hand have won six of their eight matches to date. They have lost one and drew one with 20 goals for and nine against and has a plus-11 average.
Pele has a minus-seven average from eight matches. They won two matches, lost five and drew one. They scored a total of five goals and conceded 12.
Alpha United on the other hand have won four of their eight matches. They have lost two, drew two and scored 18 goals to date and conceded eight for a plus-10 average and 14 points.
The league was expected to continue last evening at the #5 ground, West Coast Berbice, with a double- header, featuring Monedderlust and Georgetown Football Club, while the opening brought together Buxton United and Guyana Defence Force.
