Billy Heaven re-elected JCA president

WILFORD ‘Billy’ Heaven will remain president of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) for at least another term after elections for the organisation were held on Thursday.Heaven, who is also the CEO of the CHASE Fund in Jamaica, beat his challenger Fritz Harris, 52-47, at the JCA’s annual general meeting, held at the Jamaica Conference Centre on Wednesday.
Heaven’s slate was almost re-elected en bloc as well.
Dr Donovan Bennett is, once again, first vice-president, while Mark Neita is the second vice-president.
Diann Campbell is the organisation’s honorary secretary, Clinton Clarke is the assistant secretary, Hopeton Morrison is the treasurer and Kerry Scott, his assistant.
“It feels good to be returned as president, as over the past two years, the JCA has made several strides,” said Heaven.
“It is a good victory for cricket, I believe, as the association is moving in the right direction generally, and the hope is that over the next term things will get even better.”
Harris, who was general secretary of the organisation during Heaven’s first stint as president, was disappointed with the result, but accepted the decision of the delegates.
“I am naturally disappointed with the result, but it’s a membership association with the right to elect the president, and I have to respect that,” said Harris, before congratulating Heaven on his victory. (Sportsmax.com)
