A MAN has been arrested and detained to assist in police investigations into a hit-and-run accident that occurred on the Johanna Cecelia Public Road on the Essequibo Coast, in which a pedestrian was left dead on Monday night.A police report has said that Lionel King, 26, of Maria’s Lodge, Essequibo Coast, died after he was struck down by a speeding car, which drove away from the scene of the accident. King was walking along the public road, at about 23:45hrs, when he was struck by the car. He was taken to the Suddie Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations led to the vehicle being located at a residence at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast.
