A RETIRED Police Inspector from Rosignol, West Bank Berbice on Tuesday reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with his licensed firearm.Dead is former Inspector James Anderson, also known as “Randall”, aged, 79, of Railway Line, Rosignol.

Relatives said the septuagenarian lived alone but a relative usually kept his company mainly at nights.

According to reports, around 10:00 hrs, Anderson asked the male relative to go to the market to purchase a few items and he complied.

But when he returned to the house, he found Anderson in his bedroomed bleeding from a wound in his head, and in an unconscious state.

The relative raised an alarm and with help from several persons, the badly injured man was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Anderson was chronically ill and this may have triggered the apparent suicide, reports suggest. Police are investigating the matter.
