A pensioner was killed Saturday evening after the car he was driving collided with a minibus in the city.

Dead is 76-year-old William Trim of Wrens Avenue, South Ruimveldt Gardens. The Guyana Fire Service, which was called to the scene, removed the man from his vehicle and he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mr Trim was driving his car, PFF 8165, along Aubrey Barker Road when it is believed that a route 41 minibus, PVV 1302, crashed into him.
The driver of the minibus is in police custody at the East La Penitence Police Station.
According to reports, the pensioner, a father of three, had just left a shop in the area, and had just pulled out when the speeding minibus swerved from another vehicle and crashed into him.
Persons at the scene said that the minibus driver had been cautioned by passengers to slow down. None of the passengers was severely injured.
According to the pensioner’s daughter, Lavern Trim, her father left home to trim his hair and never returned.
She described him as a loving and caring father who regularly attended church.
