COURTS Guyana and Banks DIH Limited yesterday showed their support for the second edition of the E-Networks Cross-fit Challenge. The furniture and electronic store handed over a cheque valued at $300 000 while Banks DIH, behind their Aqua Mist Water, Vitamalt Plus and Powerade brands presented the organisers with an undisclosed sum for the event which gets on the way on March 17 at the National Park.
During a brief ceremony, the COURTS, through Marketing Manager Pernell Cummings and Public Relations and Promotions Officer Roberta Ferguson reminded the gathering of the company’s commitment to the event.
According to Cummings, the games are “in keeping with the company’s commitment in the area of healthy living and fitness and COURTS is proud to announce that the company will once again be on board with the Cross-Fit Fitness Challenge.”
“COURTS will be involved a little more than last year where we will be blending protein shakes and other shakes using our bullets and also having some demonstrations with our Go-Fit line of equipment that we carry,” continued Cummings.
The event, which is in its second year, will comprise several different exercises to test the athlete’s level of fitness and endurance.
Meanwhile a total of 36 persons have signed up for the games which will feature nine teams each comprising one female and three male participants.
The CEO of Fitness Express and coordinator of the event, Jamie McDonald, at the launch on Wednesday revealed that the athletes will have to perform several exercises during the gruelling event.
These include Olympic snatches, a combination of running and deadlifts and a mixture of Cross-Fit movements like jumping over walls and pushing sleds.
Other sponsors include DeSinco Trading, Axe Apparel, Fitness Express, Healing Water, WindJammer Hotel, Wings Investment, The Trophy Stall, Genesis Fitness Express, Wings Transportation Services and Baganara Island Resort.
Tickets are on sale at Fitness Express, Genesis Fitness Express and local gyms.
