OUTSPOKEN head coach of the Golden Jaguars unit, Jamaal Shabazz, has again lashed out at critics, this time at those who specifically have been critical of his management of the national side.
Speaking to the media following the Jaguars 2-0 thrashing of the Surinamese National team last Sunday, the often candid Trinidadian had some strong words for those critics who continually sit on the sidelines with their comments. “Leave me, let me build this squad and let the staff do our job. It don’t have no foreigner and local with Guyana,” said the head Jaguar, adding, “I don’t want anybody to come and interfere with what we are trying to do. Everybody in Guyana knows everything from politics to medicine.”
According to Shabazz, for too long those who are oftentimes considered ‘pundits’ of the game have been expressing their opinions where they are not needed.
Meanwhile with the upcoming Caribbean Football Union Championships just one month away, the head coach has lashed out at those who seek to sow a separation in the side by branding players by their affiliation.
He said, “It don’t have no foreigners or locals with Guyana. Don’t put this foolishness into the head of the players. We build this game with the guys who are here and then we try to strengthen by bringing in more players and then we have one big strong, powerful Guyana.”
“If you find a Jaguar in Lethem, send him, wherever in the world you find a jaguar, send him. We are building Jaguars’ (team). Guyana is a country of jaguars, led by a Jaguar,” continued Shabazz.
The Jags have been drawn in Group-5 for the March 21-29 tournament with their opponents being Puerto Rico and Anguilla.
