A YOUNG MAN from Drysdale Street, Georgetown was on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts charged with three counts of armed robbery.
Odinga Haywood, 20, denied the allegation which stated that on February 21, at Waterloo Street, Georgetown, being armed with a knife, he robbed Trevor Singh of a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued $55,000, a wallet worth $3,500 and $2,440 cash .
He also denied another charge which alleged that on that same day at Lamaha Street, Georgetown, while being armed with a knife he robbed Ibrahim Kankar of a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued $70,000.
He entered a not guilty plea to yet another charge which stated that on the same occasion, armed with a knife, he robbed Mohamed Kankar of a phone valued $120,000 and headset valued $7,000.
Attorney George Thomas, appearing for the accused stated that his client would be willing to lodge his travel documents and comply with any bail conditions.
However, the Prosecutor objected to bail stating that a weapon was used and the defendant had admitted to the offences after he was arrested.
Bail was denied and the case was adjourned n until March 10.
