-Golden Jaguars face A-Selektie tonight!

A clash of ‘El Classico’ magnitude is set for this evening when Guyana’s Golden Jaguars host the touring Surinamese A-Selektie in a Friendly encounter at the National Stadium Providence.These were the words of the Surinamese captain Ablert Nibete, who spoke to the media during a press conference yesterday at the Pegasus hotel in Georgetown.
Captain Nibete said that his side is a young unit but is here to play quality football against the best of the Golden Arrow Head.
Meanwhile, Werner Blackson the Surinamese coach contended, “we do not have the players of our champion Inter Moengotapoe (IMT) in our squad because of international games. Also the players from the runners up Transvaal are not in the selection. But we have a very talented group; basically it’s the u-23 group”
On the converse end, the locals will be hoping to get some revenge for their last encounter where they lost 1-0.
Head Coach Jamaal Shabazz, who was at the helm during that needling at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Paramaribo recounted the agony, but said, “Now we start a new project and this phase of our project we again start with our local based crew with some additions.”
Sitting alongside newly appointed senior captain Gregory Jackie Chan Richardson, Shabazz stated, “We are very happy to start this new project against them. The fans will be in for a good treat.”
Captain Richardson, easily one of the most senior members of the team having played for a number of years, urged his side to be ready for the invaders this evening.
He noted that the side has a lot of good youngsters coming up and his role in the unit throughout the camp was to pass on the knowledge gained throughout his many campaigns.

Tonight’s game sees admission pegged at 1,500 for general admission to the venue with game time set at 20:30.
The preceding game at 18:00hrs will see the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) All Stars taking on the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) All Stars.
