Farfan and Mendes renews RHTY&SC U-15 sponsorship for another year

THE long-standing cricket sponsorship relationship between the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) and agricultural tools giant, Farfan and Mendes Limited, was extended for another year, following a simple ceremony recently.For the 19th year in succession, the company has injected funds into the club’s Under-15 team totalling $240 000 for 2016.
RHTY&SC official Mark Papannah, who received the sponsorship, stated that the company has been sponsoring the RHT Farfan and Mendes team since 1997, and over that period the club have won four tournaments and are waiting to play another final in the 2015 Tenelec tournament versus Blairmont.
The club has produced over 20 national junior cricketers for Guyana, including Assad and Abdel Fudadin, Royston Crandon, Shawn Pereira, Murphy LaRose, Kevlon Anderson, Junior Sinclair and Plaffina Millington and a total of 72 for Berbice.
The RHTY&SC, Papannah stated, also won four Guyana Club-of-the-Year awards over the 19 years, while the members of the Farfan and Mendes Under-15 team have also completed over 600 personal/community outreach programmes under the name of the sponsorship since 1997.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster, in an invited comment, noted that the relationship between the RHTY&SC and Farfan and Mendes Limited is a unique and special one as it is on the verge of 20 years.
The RHTY&SC’s long-serving Secretary/CEO stated that the club has an unmatched record of gaining the trust and support of sponsors based on its activities, achievements, honesty, hard work, visionary leadership and remarkable record of fulfilling its commitments to sponsors.
He specially mentioned June Mendes, Amanda Richards, Andrew Mendes, Mrs Barker and Onai Vasconcellos of the company for their cooperation over the years.
Every year, Farfan and Mendes also co-sponsors the club’s youth review magazine, television programmes, awards ceremony, cricket academy and Christmas charity programme among others.
Foster also stated that the RHTY&SC would also like to acknowledge the contribution of the company for the role it played in ensuring the club received a Medal of Service this year from the Government of Guyana. He described Farfan and Mendes Limited’s assistance over the years as unbelievable and expressed confidence that the relationship would be expanded in the future.
Marketing Executive of the company, Onai Vasconcellos, stated it was a special privilege to be associated with Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation and stated that the Farfan and Mendes Limited’s logo and brand had been well represented over the years by the Under-15 team.
He congratulated the RHTY&SC on the announcement of its National award and expressed confidence that the club would uphold the high standards it has set itself over the years. In 2016, the RHT Farfan and Mendes Under-15 team would be captained by Chanderpaul Govinda, with Vijay Gopilall as his deputy, while Collis Butts will be the coach.
The team would also be involved in 40 personal/community programmes, including the construction of a 16’x40’ concrete cricket pitch at the Area ‘H’ ground.
