Accident spoils pensioner birthday bash

A 55-year-old man was looking forward to his 56th birthday with great expectation, put aside all Christmas celebrations so as to be fully prepared for the big day on January 29th, when he would invite friends and family from around the village and have a really good time.
However misfortune struck and an accident on the San Forte Public Road last Monday changed all his plans for the grand celebration.
Around 18:00 hrs, the victim, Glendon Belle left his home at San Forte and was heading towards New Amsterdam when tragedy struck.  As he was crossing the road on his pedal cycle, a speeding motor cycle coming from ‘out of the blues’ crashed into him and sent him prostrate on the roadway.
He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital, where X-Rays were done and which determined that he had suffered a fractured left leg.
Belle was moments later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he remains warded at the Male Surgical Ward with steel implanted into his leg.
He is expected to be laid up for the next three months, at least.
Even though Glendon will be unable to have a social gathering of the magnitude planned, instead, he will now host a moderate forum at which he will give thanks to God for his spared life.
OTHER ACCIDENT
Meanwhile, still in Berbice, two young men also suffered broken limbs as a result of being struck down by motor cycles on the main thoroughfare.
The accident happened at Skeldon,Corentyne, Berbice on Christmas Night and Ryan Singh, 16, and ‘Buddo’, 20, both suffered fractured left legs.
Even though they both have scant recollections of what had transpired, Ryan recalled that they were returning home on a motor cycle.  He was the rider and Buddo the pillion rider and shortly after taking off, another motor cycle, ridden by another friend, crashed into theirs.  They were both picked up with broken legs and rushed to the hospital where they spent the remainder of the Christmas holidays.
They are currently warded at the Male Surgical Ward of the GPH, on beds next to each other.
