Bail for beating alleged goat thief

CITY labourer Cort Mingo, who allegedly confronted Lawrence Viveros whom he suspected of stealing and killing his goat, appeared on Friday before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on a charge of unlawful and malicious wounding.

The 29-year-old Mingo denied the charge.

The prosecutor did not object to bail, and same was granted in the sum of $15,000. Mingo’s matter was transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court for January 20.

Mingo is reported to have confronted Lawrence Viveros over his missing goat at Viveros’s home. He accused the man of killing his goat and allegedly dealt him several stabs with a knife to his shoulder. The matter was reported and police then instituted the wounding charge.
