RORAIMA Airways hosted its annual Veterans’s luncheon yesterday at the Roraima Duke Lodge on Duke Street, Kingston. This initiative was taken by Captain Gerry Gouveia, Chief Executive Officer of Roraima Airways five years ago as a way of bringing good tidings and cheer to our senior citizens and veterans who served Guyana well.
This annual event features a variety of attractions which include live entertainment, gifts give away and a chance for the veterans to express themselves through the preforming arts. Live entertainment was provided by the LaRamade Broadway group out of New York and local performers under the sound engineering of the Duke Lodge sound system.
Many veterans shared stories from their past training experience and expressed their gratitude to captains Gerry and Debbie Gouveia for allowing them to never forget and not letting others forget the true meaning of Christmas and remembering their good deeds and service.
At the event Captain Gerald Gouveia stated that “our Veterans should never be forgotten and much more should be done to make their lives better”. He also made a call on the private sector to do more to contribute to the development of Veterans in Guyana.
