THE Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) is continuing its sponsorship of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club’s (KMTC) annual Boxing Day horse race meet for the 43rd year.

The company, under its Ivanoff Vodka brand, yesterday handed over the trophy for the winning horse and cash prizes for the top-four finishers to honorary president of the KMTC Justice Cecil Kennard.
DDL is sponsoring the Class `G1’ and Lower and three-and-four-year-old horses which will be contested over one mile.
The winner of the event will receive the DDL sponsored trophy along with $300,000. The other top-three performers will receive $150,000, $75,000 and $38,000 respectively.
According to Justice Kennard, since the Kennard Turf Club came into existence, the beverage company has been on board and he is very appreciative of this, and he and the club are very grateful for the continued sponsorship.
DDL’s Brands Manager Maria Munroe said her company is happy to be on board the race meet and she assured that the company will continue its sponsorship for years to come.
According to Munroe, DDL sponsors three horse race events each year for the KMTC and this she indicated will continue.
Munroe, a national hockey player said she first attended a horse race meet on Phagwa Day at the KMTC facility, Bush Lot, Farm, Corentyne, Berbice and really enjoyed it, “It was really exciting and was more like a family outing.”
She encouraged Guyanese from all walks of life to make sure they are part of the December 26 race meet.
