Fisherman claims obeah used against him

Marlon Jarvis, a 45-year-old resident of Kitty, made his first appearance before City Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a spate of assault charges made against him by his neighbour – police officer Tracy May-Gittens.According to the charge, on November 27 on the Kitty Public Road, Jarvis made use of threatening and abusive language against Gittens.
It is further alleged that he also made used of threatening and abusive language against Linden King.
Jarvis, in his plea of guilty, explained that King worked alongside Gittens and had a habit of breaking into his house and stealing his stuff while Gittens would hurl nasty insults at him and would throw rice and rotten eggs as part of her ‘demonic ritual’ to get rid of him.
The fisherman had the courtroom in laughter with his antics as he narrated his side of the story which still did not explain the charges against him. Nevertheless, a not guilty plea was recorded on his behalf.
Magistrate Azore granted Jarvis $20,000 bail initially but he was later released on self-bail. The man will make his next court appearance on January 18.
